About Phillip Bowers

Phillip Bowers is a lifelong resident of Six Mile who has spent years serving the people of Pickens County and surrounding communities through leadership, volunteerism, and public service.

He is a graduate of Daniel High School, Southern Wesleyan University, and Clemson University. Throughout his career, Phillip has worked in private-sector business and operated a small business, giving him firsthand understanding of the real-world challenges families, workers, and business owners face.

Phillip is a lifelong Republican and former county chairman. His record of service includes:

  • Pickens County Planning Commission

  • Greenville/Pickens Area Transit Study Committee

  • Pickens County School Board for eight years

  • South Carolina Education Oversight Committee for two years

  • State Board of Education for four years

Through these roles, Phillip has developed experience in:

  • Education (including preparing schools to care for children, support families, and protect the well-being of every student)

  • Roads and bridges

  • Transportation

  • Development standards

  • Budgets

  • Public funding sources

Phillip also served as a reserve deputy sheriff for 10 years, giving him a strong appreciation for the sacrifices and challenges our first responders face every day.
